Definition: To be saved means to be forgiven of ones sins and born again with a new Spirit. It's an awareness of belonging to Jesus Christ, the son of God, and having complete confidence in Him. To become like Jesus. learning the think as he does and work as he did, love as He did etc.
Scripture:
Ro 10:9 because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: Ro 10:10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Comment:
Before a person can truely repent of his or her sin that person must be truely sorry and truely believe, TRUELY BELIEVE, in his heart that Jesus has forgiven him or her, and turn away from their sins, never to sin no more and must not be ashamed of his salvation.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Comment: When we are first saved (born again) we are a baby in our spiritual life, and just like babies we have a lot to learn and will fall maybe many times as we learn to walk on our own two feet spiritually. It's not the accidental falls that will ruin us, it's the ON PURPOSE falls we take. Sin is the same way, if we slip up Jesus will help us up, when we know that we know, something is wrong and we do it anyway; that's when we get into trouble. No matter how we slip up we will reap the consequences or our actions most all the time. That's also true of the good deeds though too.
Scripture: Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them; [then saith he,] Heb 10:17 And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Comment: As we study Gods word (the Bible) He will help us to remember it, and bring it to mind when it's needful. His Word will convict us when we do wrong and strengthen us when we do right. A person who does not nurture his life with the Word of God, or who does not talk to God daily, or who does not have fellowship with other Christians and who does not witness to others and be busy doing the work God has appointed them to do, WILL DRY UP SPIRITUALLY, which will lead the way to uncertainty and doubts.
Scripture: 2pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, knowing [these things] beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness.
2pe 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] the glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Comment: If you do these things, you will know, without a doubt that you are saved for God will be walking with you and talking with you, and you will find assurance like none other.
